A rug is the anchor of a room. Too small, and the room feels disjointed. Too big, and it swallows the floor. Use our interactive visualizer below to test different sizes under standard furniture layouts.

💡 Design Tip: For a living room, at least the front legs of the sofa should sit on the rug.
🛋️ Living Room Rules
- All Legs On: Requires a large rug (9x12+). Best for floating furniture.
- Front Legs On: Most common. Connects furniture while keeping cost down (8x10).
- Coffee Table Only: Use a small rug (5x8) only for tight spaces.
🍽️ Dining Room Math
The rug MUST be large enough for chairs to remain on it even when pulled out.
Table Width + 48" = Min Rug Width
🛏️ Bedroom Layouts
- Full Bed Coverage: Rug starts from nightstands to foot of bed (8x10 or 9x12).
- 2/3 Coverage: Rug starts in front of nightstands (8x10).
- Runners: One on each side (2.5x8).
