Frequently Asked Questions
🦶 How to Measure Your Feet
1. Trace Your Foot
The most accurate method for home measurement:

- Place a piece of paper on the floor against a wall.
- Stand on the paper with your heel against the wall.
- Hold a pen vertically (90°) and trace your foot outline.
2. Measure Length & Width

- Use a ruler to measure the length from the heel line to your longest toe mark.
- Measure the width at the widest part of your foot trace.
- Pro Tip: Subtract 0.2 inches (5mm) from length to account for the pencil width.
👟 Fit Check: The Thumb Test

Is it the right size?
- There should be about a thumb's width of space between your longest toe and the end of the shoe.
- The heel should fit snugly without slipping.
- The widest part of your foot should align with the widest part of the shoe.

The US vs UK Sizing Guide
🇬🇧 The "Minus One" Rule (Men)
For most dress shoes and boots, simply subtract 1 size from your US size.
🇬🇧 The "Minus Two" Rule (Women)
Standard women's sizing subtracts 2 sizes.
⚠️ The Brand Anomalies Table
This is where 90% of returns happen. Adidas and Nike do NOT follow the standard rules above.
| Brand | Men's Offset | Women's Offset | Example (US 10 Men) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard / Generic | -1.0 Size | -2.0 Sizes | UK 9 |
| Adidas / New Balance | -0.5 Size | -1.5 Sizes | UK 9.5 |
| Nike / Jordan | -1.0 Size | -2.5 Sizes | UK 9 |
| Clarks | -1.0 Size | -2.5 Sizes | UK 9 |
Why is it so confusing?
The confusion stems from the base measurement. UK sizing is based on the length of the "last" (the foot mold) measured in Barleycorns (1/3 inch), starting from a different zero point than the US system. Brands like Adidas scale their US sizing differently to try and align with EU sizing (FR 42 etc.), creating the infamous "half-size gap".
